Clicking Similar messages will hang your whatsAPP
Know this "Whatsapp and phone crash" prank.
This message is being widely forwarded on WhatsApp and people are confused and mostly believing there is some power or black magic in the WhatsApp prank. The message that says “If you touch the black point then your WhatsApp will hang” has been doing rounds on WhatsApp. Well, according to this message, if a user touches the black circle (or Black Dot) that’s included in the message, his or her WhatsApp will “hang”.
The technical reason here the whatsApp is hanging because of directional formatting. The main culprit here is the blank space after the Black Dot.
On converting the text to HTML, you will find RLM (right-to-left mark) directional formatting.Right-to-left text directional formatting is used in Arabic and Urdu whereas LRM (left-to-right) text directional formatting is used in languages like Hindi and English. When an invisible RLM character is used it’s instructing WhatsApp to change the direction from left-to-right to right-to-left, as a result the app crashes. Sometimes the phone will also hang as the app consumes a lot of processing power. In short words the message includes symbols that WhatsApp doesn’t recognize, and are thus invisible to users.
When converted to HTML, the message shows the presence of “&rlm:” which is a control character. It’s used to specify that a piece of text is differently aligned than the rest of it. The message contains the control character right after the black spot which when touched overwhelms WhatsApp.
