HMD Global is preparing to launch the Nokia 1 in the coming weeks, with speculations pointing out that it will be the company’s first Android Go smartphone. From earlier leaks from Baidu (Chinese website) have revealed the images of the upcoming entry-level smartphone from Nokia.
It is reported that HMD GLOBAL is all set to launch Nokia 1 on 25th February 2018, a day before the Mobile World Congress. MWC is an exhibition and conference for all major mobile and telecom companies in the world.
Not much is known in terms of the spec of the upcoming Nokia 1, but some rumour mills have suggested that it could house an HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset and 1GB of RAM. (basic entry-level chipset from Qualcomm.)
In terms of camera, we could see the Nokia 1 launch with an 8 MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. A bigger 4100mAh battery is expected to power the entry-smartphone.
Launching the Nokia 1 with Android Go in markets like India could be a good strategic decision, not just in terms of the price of the phone, but also in efficiency possible with Android Go apps. Google recently revealed several Go versions of its apps including Gmail Go, Files Go, Google Maps Go, YouTube Go and more.
Nokia 1 Pricing:
Nokia 1 could be priced around Rs 6,000-6,500, which would pit it against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, 10 or D (from Amazon) it will be a war against the much higher end specification – phones vs mini versions of best android apps from the house of google integrated.
